Aromatic Scent: Amyris has a deep, warm, and comforting scent with notes of sweet

vanilla and a cedar-like aroma.

Constituents: valerianol, beta-eudesmol, elemol

Description: The Amyris tree, a relative of the citrus genus, exudes a type of balsam called elemi,

which is used to make Amyris essential oil. The wood is also frequently used for torches

and and firewood, as its high resin content produces a bright, and sometimes green, flame.

History: Amyris’ use as an essential oil seems to be more of a modern-day discovery. In 1986, Kirby and Holmes identified this oil through a microscopic evaluation.

Before their finding, Amyris was primarily used as a source of firewood.

Blends Well With: Cedarwood, Citronella, Ginger, Lavender, Peru Balsam, Ylang-ylang

Safety Information: Amyris essential oil is generally considered safe. Do not take any essential oils internally

without consultation from a qualified aromatherapy practitioner before using. Do not apply

undiluted essential oils, absolutes, CO2s or other concentrated essences onto the skin.
