Aromatic Scent: Frankincense essential oil has a warm, woody scent with earthy and

balsamic nuances.

Description: Originating in the Middle East, the Frankincense tree is small with abundant

pinnacle leaves and white or pale pink flowers. The resin from the tree begins as a milky-white sticky liquid that flows from the trunk of the tree when it’s cut, healing the abrasion.

The resin is then distilled to create Frankincense essential oil.

History: For over 5,000 years, incense has been used for trading, particularly in ancient

Egypt. It is also considered to be a holy oil, and was once used in the Talmud. Eventually,

Frankincense was brought over to Europe by Frankish Crusaders. Even today, Frankincense

is still considered to be a holy oil and is often used in religious ceremonies and during meditation.

Currently, it is being used in European and American hospitals and is the subject of considerable

research.

Blends Well With: Basil, Bergamot, Cardamom, Cedarwood, Chamomile, Cinnamon Bark, Clary

Sage, Coriander, Geranium, Ginger, Myrrh, and Vanilla
